What is Pesach?

The eight-day festival of Passover is celebrated in the early spring, from 15-22 of the Hebrew month of Nissan. In 2019 it begins on the evening of April 19 through April 27. Passover commemorates the liberation of the Jewish People from Egyptian slavery. Pesach is observed by avoiding leaven (breads, cakes, pastas etc.), and highlighted by the Seder meals that include four cups of wine, eating matzah and bitter herbs, and retelling the story of the Exodus
