Do you remember ever hearing that funny sounding language maybe spoken by your grandmother years ago? Yiddish! is actually still alive and flourishing in many parts of the country.  You have heard it here and there... You may have even heard a gentile speak some words of it!

Did you know that some English words are derived from Yiddish... AND some Yiddish words have become common-place within the English language!

Believe it or not, your "Hebrew name" might actually be a Yiddish name!

It is with great excitement that we invite you to an "evening of yiddishkeit"! Have fun while hearing/learning some Yiddish words  and phrases.
You'll brush up on what you remember, or if you've never heard Yiddish before, come and see what you're missing in this great language.

Go home with a handful of new Yiddish words and sayings that you can use on your friends. And bring some of your own!

Eli lach face.jpg You'll also take part in a "farbeisin tish" - yiddish for "Vienese Table" (like: "Rushinkes un Mandlin, Babka, kasha varnishkes"). And enjoy some Yiddish song and music to complete the spirit.

Led by our own resident native Yiddish speaker, Dr. Ellie Lach, MD

No prior knowledge of Yiddish is required.
