"Common Chanukah Celebration": Franklin

For almost two decades, the Chabad Jewish Center sponsors the Annual Franklin Freedom Menorah Lighting and Chanukah Celebration at the Franklin Town Common, at the intersection of Main St. and High Street in Franklin.

At the Franklin lighting, children, college students and adults will join on the town common to celebrate the religious freedoms granted to us by this great country. Chanukah is especially appropriate for this, as the story of Chanukah is the miracle of the oppressed winning over the oppressor. Traditional Chanukah songs will be sung, along with the eating of the delicious Chanukah foods (such as “Latkes” – fried potato pancakes) and entertainment. For details, log onto www.Gotchabad.com or email: info@GotChabad.com or call (508) 473-1299.

Other Holiday favorites will be available including, Chanukah gelt (chocolate coins), doughnuts and hot cocoa. Dreidels will also be given out. Town officials and other dignitaries will participate in the festivities. Admission is free and open to all members of the community, regardless of background or affiliation.

A 9-foot menorah will be on display on the common throughout the Chanukah holiday.
